Creating a dummy Facebook Page is a quick workaround if you need to connect an Instagram Professional account but don’t have access to the original Facebook Page or simply need a placeholder for linking.
This step is often required to complete Instagram setup or to bypass issues like missing permissions or “Review Connection” prompts in Meta.
Step-by-Step: How to Create a Dummy Facebook Page
- Log in to your personal Facebook account.
Make sure the account you're using has admin access — this will be the owner of the dummy page. - Navigate to the “Pages” section.
You’ll find this on the left-hand sidebar of your Facebook homepage. - Click “Create New Page” in the top left corner.
This will open the page creation form. - Fill in the following required details:
- Page Name: Use any name (e.g. “Test Link Page” or “My Placeholder Page”)
- Category: Choose any relevant option like “Community,” “Local Business,” or “Personal Blog”
- Click “Next” through the remaining steps until the page is created. You can skip adding images or additional info.
Link Your Instagram Account to the Dummy Page
Once your dummy Facebook Page is live:
- Go to the Page Settings.
- Click “Linked Accounts” or “Instagram” in the left-hand menu.
- Follow the prompts to log in and connect your Instagram account.
Note: The Instagram account must be a Professional (Business) account to link properly.
